Student Critics

The UApresents Student Critic Program

Created as a pilot program in 2010-2011, the Student Critic program works with students from Desert View High School (SUSD) and the University of Arizona. Students develop their critical thinking and writing skills by attending UApresents performances and writing reviews of the shows.   The students are able to experience live professional performing arts for free, broaden their exposure to many types of the arts, attend special events, and receive writing assistance.  They receive training from journalists and professors at the beginning of the program in arts journalism and criticism. The students attended a wide range of performances throughout the year, from classical music to contemporary dance and from Broadway legends to rock and roll.
