Royal Winnipeg Ballet "Val Caniparoli’s A Cinderella Story"
Saturday, February 6, 2010, 8pm
UA Centennial Hall
Set in swinging 1957, “Val Caniparoli’s A Cinderella Story” re-imagines the world’s favorite rags-to-riches tale as a fresh, hilarious and wildly inventive marriage of ballet and jazz. Dancers pirouette, bebop, soft-shoe and tango to a live jazz band interpreting Richard Rodgers’ original themes. Founded in 1939 by Gweneth Lloyd and Betty Farrally, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet holds the double distinction of being Canada's premier ballet company and the longest continuously operating company in North America. In 1953, the Company received its royal title, the first granted under the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
Event Sponsors: Dr. Herschel & Jill Rosenzweig
