The Music of Broadway with Christine Ebersole, Cheyenne Jackson and Marin Mazzie
Saturday, February 27, 2010, 8pm
UA Centennial Hall
Program Update: Due to unforeseen surgery for a torn Achilles tendon and the time required for recuperation, Brian Stokes Mitchell cannot make his scheduled appearance with Christine Ebersole and Marin Mazzie for “The Music of Broadway” on Saturday, February 27 at 8pm.
UApresents is very pleased to announce that Broadway singer/actor Cheyenne Jackson will join Marin Mazzie and Christine Ebersole for “The Music of Broadway.” Jackson just ended a critically successful Broadway run of Finian’s Rainbow and also starred in Xanadu and in Damn Yankees alongside Jane Krakowski and Sean Hayes. He can currently be seen on the Emmy® Award-winning comedy series 30 Rock, playing the role of Danny Baker.
Damn Yankees director John Rando says Jackson is “spectacular…. It’s hard not to have chemistry with Cheyenne – period – when you’re onstage with him. He just radiates. The same way his character Joe ignites a lowly baseball team, Cheyenne’s enthusiasm can ignite a company of actors.”
“A lustrous voice [that] soars.” –The New York Times
“Jackson's supple voice and relaxed leading-man confidence are a smooth fit.” –Variety
Multiple Tony Award-winner Christine Ebersole won critical acclaim for her performances in 42nd Street, Oklahoma!, Dinner At Eight, The Best Man and Grey Gardens, which one New York Times critic called, “possibly the greatest performance I’ve ever seen in a musical.” She also appeared in the Academy Award-winning films Tootsie and Amadeus.
Mazzie is a three-time Tony Award nominee for her performances in Passion, Ragtime and Kiss Me, Kate. Mazzie most recently starred on Broadway and London’s West End as the Lady of the Lake in Monty Python’s Spamalot. “A lush, leonine blonde whose ferocious theatricality matches the size of her voice.” –The New York Times
